The short version: Blumvie has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. We do not collect your name, email address or location. The only information that leaves your device is what Apple and our subscription provider need to process a purchase.
Who we are
Blumvie ("Blumvie", "we", "us") is the Blumvie app for iPhone and this website, blumvie.com. Both are operated by Derek Lauritzen, based in Illinois, USA. You can reach us at [email protected].
Information the app stores on your device
Blumvie stores the following on your iPhone so the app can work. We cannot see any of it.
- Which quotes you have saved.
- Your settings, such as your chosen theme, typeface, appearance and reminder time.
- Whether you have completed the introduction screens.
iCloud sync
If you are signed in to iCloud, your saved quotes are synced between your devices using your own private iCloud storage, which is provided by Apple. This data is held in your iCloud account. We have no access to it. Apple's handling of iCloud data is described in the Apple Privacy Policy.
Purchases and subscriptions
Blumvie Premium is sold as a subscription through Apple's App Store. Apple processes your payment. We never receive your card details, billing address or Apple Account email.
To check whether a subscription is active, the app uses RevenueCat, a subscription management service. RevenueCat receives:
- A random identifier created by the app for your installation. It is not your name, email address or advertising identifier.
- Your purchase history for Blumvie, such as the product purchased, the purchase and expiry dates and the App Store receipt.
- Basic technical details that come with any network request, such as app version, device type, operating system version and IP address.
We use this information only to unlock Premium features and to keep them unlocked on your devices. RevenueCat processes it on our behalf under the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
Notifications
If you turn on the daily reminder, it is scheduled on your device. We do not operate a notification server and we do not receive your notification settings.
What we do not do
- We do not require or offer accounts.
- We do not show advertising.
- We do not use analytics or tracking tools in the app.
- We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- We do not sell or share personal information.
This website
blumvie.com does not use cookies, analytics or advertising. Like any website, the company that hosts it may keep standard server logs, including IP addresses, for security and reliability.
A few times a day the app downloads two small files from blumvie.com: the current list of quotes, and a list of any quotes we have withdrawn. These requests carry no information about you beyond what any web request includes, and they are covered by the same server logs.
The home page of this website loads some of its typefaces from Google Fonts. To do that, your browser requests the font files from Google, which receives your IP address as part of the request. Google describes how it handles this in the Google Privacy Policy.
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to reply and to resolve your request.
How long information is kept
Information stored on your device stays until you delete the app. Saved quotes in iCloud stay until you remove them or delete the app's iCloud data in your iPhone settings. Purchase records are kept by RevenueCat for as long as needed to provide the subscription and to meet legal and accounting obligations. Support emails are kept for as long as needed to help you.
Your choices and rights
- You can delete everything stored by the app by deleting the app, and remove its iCloud data in Settings under your name, iCloud, Manage Storage.
- You can turn the daily reminder on or off at any time.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings.
- Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information held about you, or to object to its use. To make a request about your purchase records or support emails, email [email protected].
Children
Blumvie is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will also mention it in the app or in its release notes.
